Galanta Library

We view the original school building as a significant historical trace for the local context. Within our proposal we give the building back its original proportions. By dividing the volumes, we create a new courtyard connecting the street and the park, while creating an outdoor social space for the visitors. The extension consists of a pavilion building with an inner atrium. It connects to the original school at the bottom of its roof line and slowly increases in hight towards the park. Through the separation of volumes and the combination of the existing and new objects we create spaces with different characters and atmospheres all around the library campus.
