Restaurant Irin
They are about relationships and friendships. We have created a space strictly subordinate to its function, where the ambitions of architecture should not surpass the experience of the food itself.
IRIN restaurant is located in a historic building in the city center, which underwent a partial reconstruction 15 years ago. The space itself is not very big, but quite varied. Characteristically it can be divided into three distinctive spaces: a part with ribbed concrete ceiling - containing the open kitchen, seating/dining area + back of the house, entrance and the staircase. This project was a transformation of a winery to a restaurant, with its main aim to create a functional simple space. The entire design was not meant to overpower the gastronomy experience but simple facilitate and enhance it.
In this scenario, the design doesn´t have to inspire the user. Quite the opposite- the user inspires the design. A close collaboration between the chef and architects from the beginning ensured harmony and understanding between space, food, and people.
Story provided by the Chef
At Irin. we strive to evoke emotion through food.
Food, which is rooted in regional tradition, yet reimagined with flavours that know no particular place or time. A paradox of the unknown, which feels familiar, almost intimate. Provenance and quality of ingredients are of paramount importance to us, but so is the ingenuity in putting them to use and the skills to do so perfectly.
The dining experience entails a tasting menu, which is alive and changes impulsively, based on seasons, availability of resources and mere inspiration.
